What we use
The current Our Raleigh application does not use analytics cookies or advertising tracking cookies. Reading public articles does not require an editor session. The items below support editor sign-in and remember cookie choices, email-popup behavior and accessibility preferences. Temporary ad tokens are described separately; they are not cookies or local-storage entries.

Email signup preference
We use local storage on this browser to remember that you dismissed the signup popup for 14 days, or completed a signup. This preference contains no email address and is not an advertising tracker. You can still open signup using Subscribe or Get Raleigh emails.
How advertising is measured
An impression is counted when at least half of an ad is visible for one second while the page is active. An ad-link open is counted when its signed link is requested; a click count is not proof of a purchase or a unique reader. A temporary token identifies the rendered ad and placement, not a person. Tokens expire after two hours, and the server stores a token hash temporarily to avoid counting the same event twice. Counts are aggregated by advertiser, placement and day. No advertising cookie or browser-storage identifier is used, and the counts are not used for personalized advertising. Blocking scripts prevents impression measurement; ordinary server logs may still record page and link requests.
Your controls
You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Blocking the editor cookie prevents editor sign-in. Public articles remain accessible. “Essential only” saves your choice and dismisses the notice. Cookie preferences can be reopened from any page footer. Saving a choice does not enable optional tracking.
External services
Our fonts are served by Our Raleigh without an external font request. Our site does not embed social-media feeds, tracking ads or third-party video players. Following an external link opens a separate website, which may use its own cookies. See our Privacy policy for more information.
Future changes
If optional tracking is introduced, the notice and controls will need to be updated before it is enabled, including consent choices where required. No optional tracking categories are currently available to switch on.
